Skip the spoon-full of sugar and go directly to the syrup. This a basic recipe that anyone can master and use for all sorts of things like: cocktails, coffee, lemonade, ice tea… did I mention coffee? I was totally inspired to make some of this syrup when my boyfriend, Jonathan and I went to a small coffee shop (not Starbucks!) in Seattle and instead of the normal sugar packets on the bar, they had a bottle full of simple syrup.

It was so simple (pun intended) to pour a bit of the syrup in, swirl with a stick and enjoy. I’m always trying to get the right amount of sugar packets in to make it sweet enough (am I the only one with that problem?) so this is the perfect way to get around that and it’s SO easy!

Ingredients
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Cup Sugar
Instructions
  1. In a small saucepan, bring the sugar and water to a boil. Stirring occasionally until the sugar has dissolved completely, about 5-10 minutes.
  2. Remove the pan from the heat and cool completely before funneling it into your favorite glass jar.
  3. Add some to your morning coffee, your afternoon tea, or your evening cocktail and
  4. ENJOY!
Notes
* Makes about 11/2 cups syrup.
